The Crypt Stage: Jamie Jones, Guy Gerber and more

Posted on August 17, 2016

On Sunday, October 30, the event’s final day, the Crypt Stage will be occupied by some of the most prolific names in techno and deep house to provide underground aficionados with their very own sanctuary for the day.

Closing out with a headlining set is Hot Creations label co-head and undisputed pioneer of the genre, Jamie Jones! Widely regarded as one of the leaders in the creation of the “new” sound of house, Jamie’s influence on the scene is anything but unnoticed. His 2011 remix of Azari & III’s “Hungry for the Power” became an internationally recognized anthem for the year, being played out far across the globe and effectively making a name for the British artist. Jones teamed up with fellow Crypt Stage contributor Lee Foss to form a full band project Hot Natured in 2012 and reached the UK Top 40 the following year for their debut single, “Benediction.” In conjunction with the release of his most recent EP, Land of the Giants, Jones’ weekly Ibiza party, Paradise, continues to be one of the most sought after event series in Ibiza.

Alongside him will be Israeli DJ Guy Gerber, three-time Top 10 contender for Resident Advisor’s live performance list and curator of acclaimed label Supplement Facts. With a longstanding dominion over some of Ibiza’s most celebrated series and a recently unveiled remix of Audion’s own “Mouth to Mouth,” the techno mastermind will be welcomed with open arms by his expansive Chicago fan base this Halloween!

It wouldn’t be a techno stage takeover without an appearance by local legend, Lee Foss. The co-creator of label Hot Creations has won Mixmag’s Tune of the Month” four times for each of his hit releases on various labels, and now rests on the most recent debut of his latest The Gift EP. With a powerful lineup of friends and collaborators joining him on the Crypt Stage, Foss’s presence will surely add miles to the ideal setting.

Visit the Crypt stage earlier in the evening for a chance to witness Dirtybird’s secret weapon Ardalan, as he brings his signature strain of wonky tech house and pounding rhythms to the table. With undying support from the likes of Diplo, Skrillex, A-trak, Maya Jane Coles and more, the Iranian producer has seen a more rapid rise to success and recognition than most others in the circuit. His collaboration with Christian Martin, “Flight of The Pterodactyl,” remains as one of Dirtybird’s most experimental and highly engaging releases in recent memory.

Rounding out the Sunday roster will be CEO and founder of Farris Wheel Recordings and veritable Chicago techno heroes Gene Farris. His reign as one of the premiere contributors to the city’s rich house and techno culture has made waves within the community ever since his start in the ‘90s. Since then, he has become a decorated veteran of the movement with consistent support from Loco Dice, Carl Cox, Green Velvet, The Martinez Brothers and more. His 2015 single with Sonny Fodera, “We Work It” broke the Beatport Top 10 All Time list, and his 2016 album In The Screen, has already seen him earn two #1 tracks on Traxsource’s chart.

On Sunday, October 30, make sure to bring good vibes and a warm spirit to the Crypt Stage to witness some of the best names in techno and house transform the night into the warehouse setting it was meant to be.
